This image depicted a ventral view of two cotton rats, Sigmodon hispidus, that were infected with a case of echinococcosis, caused by the parasitic fox tapeworm, Echinococcus multilocularis. This rodent on the left had been infected for 20-days, while the specimen on the right was infected for 45-days duration.
