This photograph depicts a close frontal view of what is referred to as a CDC Lombard-Dowell (LD) Presumpto Plate II quadrant plate, and focused on the quadrant that had contained the LD agar supplemented with glucose. This quadrant was inoculated with an unidentified anaerobic bacterium, to test for the presence of glucose fermentation. Bromthymol blue 1% was added to the medium as an indicator, and as was the case here, turns yellow in the presence of an acidic environment, which occurs during the fermentation process. Hence, this test provided a positive result for the presence of glucose fermentation.
