This female Aedes aegypti mosquito, was photographed here after landing on her human host, and was about to obtain a blood meal. The Ae. aegypti mosquito is a known transmitter of both Dengue fever, and yellow fever. In fact, A. aegypti is sometimes referred to as the yellow fever mosquito. These viruses are transferred to the host when bitten by a female mosquito.
