These public health field workers had stopped for a moment to pose for this portrait, while on a mission to document the bat population in this unidentified region in Mexico. Amongst these men, was Ernest S. Tierkel, VMD, MPH, a world renowned epidemiologist, who specialized in understanding, and controlling the rabies virus, and who earned the nickname, “Dr. Rabies”.
