Caption:
This image depicted a close frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate, which had contained Lowenstein-Jensen growth medium that had been inoculated with the bacterium, Mycobacterium phlei, and after an unknown incubation period, had given rise to these orange-beige colored colonies, displaying numerous convergent ridges that were rising towards the center of each colony. These colonies were illuminated by epi-illumination.
