This photomicrograph highlighted some of the histopathologic changes that had taken place in this human skin tissue sample, in a case of favus, a severe form of tinea capitis, which had been caused by the fungal organism, Trichophyton schoenleinii. This case of scalp ringworm was situated in Brazil.
