Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) quarantine station public health officers, respond to reports of sick travelers at 18-U.S. ports of entry, where most international travelers arrive. In this photograph, CDC Quarantine Public Health Officer, Chelsea Williams, was performing an assessment on a sick traveler, arriving at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. In the foreground, you can see the yellow flag on her uniform epaulets, symbolizing the historical protection of quarantine practice that has been part of our country’s public health service since 1798.
