Caption:
This image depicted a frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate, which contained a growth medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar, that had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton ferrugineum, also referred to as Microsporum ferrugineum. This culture produced a single, large, tan-colored, smooth but highly wrinkled colony, sporting a rust-colored periphery, all of which are characteristics common to T. ferrugineum.
