Viewed under a dissecting microscope, this photograph depicted a number of Actinomyces naeslundii, strain W826, bacterial colonies, which had been cultivated on a growth medium of brain heart infusion agar (BHIA). The culture underwent an incubation period of 7-days, and produced these colonies you see here, with there triangular- and star-shaped, raised central regions. See PHIL 24666, for another close view of another colony grown in this culture.
