Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph of an arthrospore suspension, revealed some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by Coccidioides immitis. Here, you are looking at what were chains of C. immitis reproductive fungal spores known as arthroconidia, which are reproductive spores derived from the organism’s filamentous hyphae.
