Caption:
This photomicrograph of a tissue sample revealed some of the morphologic characteristics exhibited by the fungal organism, Neotestudina rosatii, in a case of white grain mycetoma. You are seeing a close view of a structure known as a perithecium-like ascostromata, and within which you can see numbers of darkly stained asci, each of which in turn, contained reproductive cells known as 8-ascospores.
