This image depicts a close view of a patient’s upper face, which displayed a loss of eyebrow hair, or alopecia, which had been caused by a secondary syphilis infection, due to the bacterium, Treponema pallidum. Other symptoms that may occur during this stage included mild fever, fatigue, headache, sore throat, patchy hair loss, and swollen lymph glands.
