Caption:
This image depicted an anterior view of a 3-day-old infant’s head, chest and arms, in order to highlight the cutaneous manifestations of a genetic skin disorder known as congenital ichthyosis (CI) in its collodion form, as well a folding of the baby’s upper eyelids, due to a condition known as ectropion. The collodion form of CI has been described as imparting to the infant, the appearance of being covered in a tight layer of plastic wrap, which is shed over the course of several weeks. The tightness of this membrane can cause the development of ectropion, which occurred in this case.
