At a magnification of 900X, this was a photomicrograph of a specimen, which had been processed using the Gram-stain technique, and analyzed by way of oil emersion optics. The specimen had been extracted from a patient with a case of geotrichosis, caused by the fungal organism, Geotrichum candidum. You are able to see numerous arthrospores, displaying flattened, or rounded ends, which had resulted from the segmentation of hyphal filaments.
