Caption:
This illustration depicted a dorsal view of a Culiseta mosquito larva, and identifies its siphonal characteristics, including a basal tuft of setae, chitinous pecten comb, and rows of distal setae. If there is a pair of tufts near the base of the siphon, and a ventral row of tufts, or a row of straight hairs distal to the pecten, then the larva is a member of the genus, Culiseta.
