Under a magnification of 500X, this photomicrograph of a Lendrum-stained lung tissue specimen, revealed the presence of a cytomegalic inclusion cell. With their enlarged, darkly stained nucleus, these cells are also known as owl-eye inclusion cells, and are due to cytomegalic inclusion disease, caused by the cytomegalovirus.
