This photomicrograph of a section of brain tissue, highlighted a meningeal capillary that had been occluded by a thrombus, or blood clot, surrounded by an inflammatory infiltrate of white blood cells (WBCs) consisting of neutrophils and lymphocytes. Cortical brain tissue is seen to the right of the occluded capillary, while pia mater to the vessel’s left. The reason for this condition was not made evident.
