This image depicted a right superior-oblique view of a young female patient’s scalp, highlighting an erythematous, crusty lesion, which had resulted due to an infection known commonly as a kerion, a type ringworm, or tinea capitis, involving the formation of an abscess. The responsible dermatophytic fungal organism was identified, as Trichophyton verrucosum.
