Caption:
This superior view of a boy’s head, revealed a cutaneous scalp lesion, indicated by a circular area of scaly skin, and overlying hair loss. It was determined that this lesion, a form of tinea capitis, is also referred to as a kerion, had been the result of a dermatophytic infection, brought on by the fungal organism, Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
