Description: Caption:
Under a magnification of 200X, this photomicrograph of a Guinea pig hair specimen, processed using the potassium hydroxide (KOH) method, revealed the histopathology exhibited by a dermatophytic fungal infection, caused by the dermatophyte, Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Note that the infection looked to be confined to the hair shaft’s interior, categorizing this as an endothrix.
