This photograph depicted a frontal view of a Petri dish culture plate, which had contained a growth medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar, that had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Nannizzia gypsea, formerly known as Microsporum gypseum, strain A-81. Note that this colony displayed its characteristic cream-colored, suede-textured, ruffled surface.
