Depicted in this image was a glass microscope slide, upon which a thick film blood smear had been attempted on the left. The resultant grouping of four blood droplets defined this as an unacceptable example of a thick film smear. See PHIL 21550, for a good example of how both thin, and thick film blood smears should appear on the glass slide, after undergoing processing.
