Caption:
This photograph depicted an anterior view of the lower half of a young girl’s face, who had extended her tongue in order to display a maculopapular lesion on the tongue’s mucosal surface, which appeared like those on the skin of her face and shoulder. This patient had received her primary smallpox vaccination, and subsequently developed this generalized vaccinial rash. See PHIL 21512, for a view of the girl’s right foot, revealing more of this generalized vaccinial rash between her toes.
