Caption:
The young girl depicted here, sustained a number of insect bites about her neck and upper chest. Note how these vesicular lesions resembled what was initially thought to be a case of chickenpox, caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), also known as Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3). See PHIL 21509, for a view of this girl’s upper back, which revealed the presence of additional sites of insect bite erythema.
