Under a magnification less that than that seen in PHIL 21503, this photomicrograph of a hematoxylin-eosin (H&E)-stained tissue specimen, revealed the presence of a characteristic multinucleated giant cell, in what was a scraping from a cutaneous lesion, in a case of chickenpox, caused by the varicella zoster virus (VZV), also known as Human herpesvirus 3 (HHV-3).
