These three test tubes contained an unidentified growth medium. Each tube was inoculated with a different Microsporum sp. dermatophytic fungal organism. From left to right, each tube produced a fungal colony. At left, a Microsporum audouinii colony had germinated, while the middle tube gave rise to a M. canis colony, and at right, a colony of M. gypseum organisms had germinated. The purpose on this image was to compare the colonial morphology exhibited by each respective species.
