Caption:
These two Petri dish culture plates contained a growth medium of Sabouraud dextrose agar, and had been inoculated with the fungal organism, Epidermophyton floccosum. However, on the left, the colony was grown from a normal, E. floccosum culture, while the colony incubated on the right, represented a pleomorphic form, which had been harvested from the normal colony. Note the presence of white, pleomorphic foci on the colonial surface at left, from which organisms had been extracted, and regrown in the right Petri dish.
