This photograph depicted a reverse view of a Petri dish culture plate, which had contained an unidentified growth medium that had been inoculated with the dermatophytic fungal organism, Nannizzia gypsea, formerly known as Microsporum gypseum. Note that this colony displayed its characteristic overall yellow-orange coloration, and a centrally located, darker orange-brown region with dark-brown radiating rays of color.
