Under a magnification of 1150X, this was a photomicrograph of a Gram-stained sample, initially extracted from a Texan bloodhound with a suspected case of actinomycosis. The specimen was then cultivated in a blood heart infusion (BHI) agar slant culture under aerobic conditions, for a 3-day period, and revealed the presence of numerous Gram-positive, fungus-like aerobic, Actinomyces sp. bacteria.
