Caption:
This photomicrograph of a trichrome-stained stool specimen, revealed the presence of this Entamoeba coli trophozoite, which had itself, been parasitized by a species of the fungus, Sphaerita, represented here by a vacuolated, tightly packed cluster of numerous, spheroid-shaped dots. The trophozoite’s nucleus is also visible, containing a single, slightly eccentric karyosome, and peripherally placed chromatin.
