This image was created in January 2015, by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Health Education Specialist, Rebecca Myers, during CDC’s Sierra Leone Ebola Response. This scene was on the runway of the Freetown-Lungi International Airport in Sierra Leone, and showed us how outgoing Air Côte d'Ivoire passengers were washing their hands with a dilute chlorine solution, one more time before boarding. This exit screening procedure, was monitored by the CDC Border Health Team (NCEZID, Division of Global Migration, Quarantine and Border Health Services Branch), and CDC’s partner, the International Organization for Migration (IOM). After passengers were screened 3-times, and allowed to board, some airlines like Côte d'Ivoire requested additional measures, like additional hand washing, just before boarding. This was one of the entries in the 2015 CDC Connects, Public Health in Action Photo Contest.
