Created in January, 2015, by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Epidemiologist, Rebecca Hall, MPH, this image showed us a view of the township of West Point, in the capital city of Monrovia, Liberia, as viewed from the abandoned Ducor Palace Hotel. West Point was one of the urban epicenters of the Ebola outbreak in Liberia. Complicating responder efforts to curb the outbreak in this slum neighborhood, were civil unrest and denial, even after dozens of Ebola cases and deaths occurred. This was one of the entries in the 2015 CDC Connects, Public Health in Action Photo Contest.
