Caption:
This image depicted what is known as a fundoscopic view of the retina, or the back of the left eye. Note the optic cup on the left, at which point, the optic nerve and artery entered the back of the eye. This was a case of diabetic retinopathy. The retina exhibited a number of lighter, yellowish-colored blotches, which turned out to be accumulations of cholesterol, and blood debris, caused by the after effects of retinal arteriolar hemorrhages.
