Caption:
This 1965 photograph depicted a Buffalo Turbine Sprayer/Duster, which was used to distribute powdered insecticides outdoors, primarily amongst agricultural crops in order to control arthropodal pests. See PHIL 20447, for a view showing you how one of these sprayers could then be mounted to the back of a motor vehicle. After being loaded with its cache of insecticide, an operator atop the truck, would then manually operate the sprayer, directing the dispersion of the cloud of insecticide sideways. The dust sprayed from the nozzle, would then indiscriminately settle out unto objects in the vicinity, or on the ground and surrounding plant life.
