Caption:
These two Nigerian infants were born joined at the buttocks, a phenomenon known as conjoined twins. The extent of their joining was not clarified, as to whether or not they were sharing any internal organs. These twins were of the pygopagus type, which means fused with a common pelvis, and occupied a back-to-back relationship. The pygopagus type represents 15% of conjoined twins.
