This historic 1961 image, depicts a laboratory technologist seated in a laboratory setting, while carrying out a plague study in San Francisco, California. The laboratorian was working with the plague bacterium, Yersinia pestis, formerly known as Pasteurella pestis, and here, was in the process of inoculating Petri dish culture plates with bacterial samples.
