This historic 1894 photograph depicts Dr. Alexandre Yersin standing in front of what had been his straw hut, located in Hong Kong, China. This hut acted as Dr. Yersin’s laboratory building, where in 1894, he first isolated and described in detail, Pasteurella pestis, the old term used for Yersinia pestis.
