Caption:
Under a magnification of 680X, and processed using the fluorescent antibody (FA) staining method, this photomicrograph depicted a number of Actinomyces israelii bacteria, strain A601, which were observed here, under ultraviolet light, in what was a specimen harvested from a tonsillar infection. You can see a clump of the characteristic, rod-shaped bacteria arranged in their common, filamentous morphology.
