This liver tissue specimen, had been extracted from a patient diagnosed with a case of systemic candidiasis, caused by the fungal organism, Candida albicans. Note the numbers of granulomas, representing areas of chronic inflammation, caused by the invasion of the liver tissue by these fungal organisms.
