This image depicts three hair specimens extracted from a horse with a case of dermatophilosis, which was due to an infection caused by Dermatophilus congolensis bacteria. These hair samples were still attached to their cutaneous base, which showed signs of the illness, including drying and crustiness of the associated skin.
