Captured in 1969, this image depicts a meeting underway between two former Communicable Disease Center (CDC), currently the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), officials, Robert L. Brownfield (standing), and John F. Winn, DVM, MPH, regarding what at the time, were Continuing Manpower Development Projects. At the time, Robert L. Brownfield was a Management Consultant, for what had been the Laboratory Management Consultation Office, and Dr. Winn, a Public Health Service (PHS) staff member, in what was the U. S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (HEW), now known as the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
