Entitled, “STOP Program in Nigeria”, this image shows a mother holding her baby in front of their home near a mobile health clinic in Katsina, Nigeria. Stacey Hoffman, the photographer, a consultant with CDC’s Stop Transmission of Polio (STOP) program, took this photo of the baby sleeping soundly in his mother’s arms, shortly after receiving his polio vaccination. With this photo, Stacey shared a First Place award in the 2009 CDC Connects Annual Public Health in Action Photo Contest, in the category of “International People”.
