ID#: 19282
Caption:
This infant exhibited congenital abnormalities that included an abnormal shape to the baby’s external ears, known as an anteriorly folded helix, a pronounced epicanthal folds, and V-shaped eyebrows, as well as a palmar simian crease, which can be seen in PHIL 19280, and 19281. In this particular instance, this baby’s mother had used the anticonvulsant, trimethadione (brand name Tridione®), while pregnant, causing these malformations, as well as others not visible in these views, which included the heart, all together, creating a condition known as fetal trimethadione syndrome.
