Captured in 1976, this historic image depicts a view of the Georgia State Capitol building located in the state’s capitol city of Atlanta, Georgia, displaying its majestic gold gilded dome, which can be seen from miles around, and is a familiar site to millions of Georgia residents. This particular view, provided a closer look at the top of the gold dome, where a statue of a robed woman stands tall, as she holds a torch aloft. This woman has been referred to as the Goddess of Liberty, and Miss Freedom, and was constructed from overlapping copper sheets, affixed over a hollow frame.
