This image depicts a JEM-BEC transport system, consisting of a rectangular bacterial culture plate containing a selective, Thayer-Martin equivalent type medium, that had been inoculated with a Neisseria gonorrhoeae bacterial culture, and placed into a small, resealable, Mylar zip-lock bag, along with a CO2-generating tablet (citric acid-sodium bicarbonate), thereby, creating an anaerobic environment. This gonorrhea test kit had been manufactured by Ames Co., Inc., a Division of Miles Laboratories Inc.
