Captured during January-February, 1975, in the district of Patna, located in the East India State of Bihar, this image depicts the interior of the World Health Organization (WHO) Office in which a number of public health officials were hard at work, analyzing data gathered during their smallpox eradication efforts in that country. At left was former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) staffer, and WHO Operations Officer, Mr. Jay Friedman, and at right, seated at his typewriter, Administrative Assistant, Mr. Sushant K. Sharda. The photograph was captured by a Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Bureau of State Services staff member, during one of the smallpox immunization-related trips to that region of the world.
