Caption:
This Petri dish culture plate contained an agar medium, which had been inoculated using the streak method, with the bacterium, Ureaplasma urealyticum, formerly referred to as T-mycoplasma. The newly made streaks can be seen as darker lines on the agar surface. You’ll note a paper disk labeled with the letter “E”, representing the antibiotic erythromycin, with which the disk had been saturated. This disk had been placed atop the agar in order to determine the level of antibiotic sensitivity exhibited by the Ureaplasma urealyticum bacteria to the erythromycin antibiotic.
