This Petri dish culture plate contained a growth medium of sheep blood agar (SBA), which was inoculated with Bacillus anthracis bacteria. This particular culture was used to conduct what is known as a tenacity test, which in this case, proved positive. B. anthracis colonies are characteristically sticky, or tenacious in their consistency. When they’re teased with a loop, colonies will stand up like a beaten egg white, as can be seen here.
