This photomicrograph of a trichrome-stained specimen, revealed the presence of a typical, Entamoeba coli trophozoite, which contained a characteristically large, single nucleus with its peripherally dispersed chromatin, and eccentric karyosome. Note the overall dirty appearance to the amoeba’s granulated cytoplasm.
