Captured by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) team lead, Ellen Dotson, PhD, during Guinea’s 2014, Ebola outbreak, this image depicts CDC Environmental Health Scientist, Lindsey Horton, MPH, demonstrating how one goes about cleaning up infected body fluids, while using simulated vomit. Note that Lindsey was not wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to save the limited supplies of PPE for the students. The two students were wearing the correct equipment that one would wear, when participating in this type of cleaning. Recommendations for PPE in West Africa differ somewhat from those for healthcare workers in the United States.
